This year, 100 countries are participating in the world’s best festival!
The International Istanbul Büyükçekmece Culture and Art Festival, which has been awarded the title of ‘World’s Best Culture and Art Festival’ by the World Festival Association for 8 consecutive times, is opening its doors for the 24th time.
The festival, taking place from July 26th to August 5th, will host cultural and artistic envoys from 100 countries this year, in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Republic.”

Continuing uninterrupted for 24 years and recognized as one of the world’s most prestigious cultural and artistic festivals, the International Istanbul Büyükçekmece Culture and Art Festival will host even more vibrant and enthusiastic events this year. As part of the 100th-anniversary celebrations of the Republic, the festival is joined by cultural and artistic envoys from 100 countries. The festival will feature the participation of 1,550 cultural and artistic envoys from all around the world in events such as the International Sculpture Symposium, International Photography Competition, International Altınköprü Folk Dance Competition, International Handicrafts Workshop, International Children’s Handicrafts Workshop, and International Puppet Exhibition.
“UNESCO 2023 Year of Aşık Veysel”
This year, the festival will feature a special presentation titled “100 Mızraplı Aşık” within the scope of “UNESCO 2023 Year of Aşık Veysel.” In the section dedicated to public concerts, performances by İrem Derici, Ekin Uzunlar, Koray Avcı, Kaan Sekban, and Yaşar are scheduled. The Antakya Civilization Choir, which lost its group members and many loved ones in the earthquakes on February 6th, will also hold a special concert named “Büyükçekmece Heard Our Voice.”
In the field of Culture and Arts, this year’s festival committee has chosen to honor Melek Baykal with a “Lifetime Achievement Award” and Tamer Levent with a “Lifetime Honorary Award.” In the Press category, Timur Soykan will receive the “Achievement Award,” and Fikret Bila will be honored with the “Press Honorary Award.”
Very special exhibitions will meet art enthusiasts.
The International Güler Ertan Photography Competition Exhibition, the exhibition of Collector Cem Üsküp, Haluk Perk, and Dr. Ahmet Akif’s antique artworks titled “Uzakta Kesilir Sesin” (Your Voice is Cut Off in the Distance), Tenzile Güler’s exhibition “Nazif’in Düğmeleri” (Nazif’s Buttons), Okay Temiz’s “Ritmin 100’ü Sergisi” (Rhythm’s 100th Exhibition), the International Sculpture Symposium Exhibition, the International Handicrafts Exhibition and Workshop Celebration, and Fikret Doğan’s exhibition “Ardıç’ın Gizemi” (The Mystery of the Juniper) will all meet art enthusiasts.
