The International Sculpture Symposium has commenced in Büyükçekmece

The International Sculpture Symposium, one of the key components of the International Istanbul Buyukcekmece Culture and Arts Festival, has begun with the participation of sculptors.

From July 24th to August 3rd, local and international sculptors participating in the 25th International Istanbul Buyukcekmece Culture and Arts Festival have started sculpting their artworks.

There are 6 sculptors participating

The following sculptors are participating in the International Sculpture Symposium under the curatorship of Nurettin Bektaş, Chair of the Sculpture Department at Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts: Anna Sosençkaya (Russia), Allesio Ranaldi (Italy), Kamen Tanev (Bulgaria), Çiprian Hopirteam (Romania), Ozan Dursun, and Sıtkı Eryılmaz (Turkey).

The artworks will be exhibited/displayed in Büyükçekmece

The works of sculptors, who have started carving their figures on marble blocks, will be exhibited on Thursday, August 1st, at Dalyan Cafe in Kültürpark. On Friday, August 2nd, a ceremony will be held at Kemal Sunal Amphitheatre in Kültürpark, where plaques will be presented to the sculptors participating in the sculpture symposium. At the end of the festival, the artworks gifted by the sculptors will be displayed in parks and squares throughout Büyükçekmece.

“There will be great art-works”

Curator Nurettin Bektaş, providing information about the ongoing work at the Sculpture Symposium, said: “I am the Chair of the Sculpture Department at Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts. I have been serving as the curator here for the fourth year. This year, we are conducting the international sculpture symposium with 6 artists. We have 2 Turkish and 4 foreign artists. We are working with Anna Sosenskaya from Russia, Kamen Tanev from Bulgaria, Alessio Ranaldi from Italy, and Çiprian Hopirtean from Romania. Everything is going very well this year due to our good organization. Great works will come out. There will be very beautiful sculptures this year as well.”
