The final night of the world’s best festival was also magnificent.
With the participation of 1550 cultural and art ambassadors from 100 countries, the 24th International Istanbul Buyukcekmece Culture and Art Festival, which opened its doors on July 26th, concluded with a grand stage show.
The International Golden Bridge Folk Dance Competition, where dance groups from countries all around the world competed fiercely, saw the jury selecting Bulgaria as the first, Chile as the second, and South Africa as the third.

Dr. Hasan Akgün, the Mayor of Büyükçekmece, stated that as part of the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the Republic, they invited ambassadors of 100 countries to this year’s festival. He mentioned, “In the year 2023, when our Republic turns 100, welcoming the art ambassadors of 100 countries on the historic bridge in Büyükçekmece, greeting the people in Istanbul, offering a cultural feast, and showcasing cultural activities bring us great joy and pleasure. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the 1550 art ambassadors and jury members who participated in the 24th International Istanbul Büyükçekmece Culture and Art Festival. Our philosophy is the philosophy of the Republic’s founder, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Peace at home, peace in the world. This festival’s main theme stems from this.”
1550 art ambassadors from 100 countries participated
Awarded the “World’s Best Culture and Art Festival” by the World Festivals Union for 8 consecutive times and continuing uninterrupted for 24 years, the International Istanbul Büyükçekmece Culture and Art Festival hosted even more colorful and vibrant events this year. Within the framework of the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the Republic, cultural and art ambassadors from 100 countries attended the festival. With the participation of 1550 cultural and art ambassadors from all corners of the world, the festival featured events such as the International Sculpture Symposium, International Photography Competition, International Golden Bridge Folk Dance Competition, International Handicrafts Workshop, International Children’s Handicrafts Workshop, International Mosaic Workshop, and International Puppet Exhibition.
Bulgaria took first place
The closing special performance of the “Epic of the Century,” which was the joint project of the International Golden Bridge Folk Dance on the final night, received great acclaim from the thousands of spectators filling the amphitheater. Following the performance, the awards ceremony for the International Golden Bridge Folk Dance Competition commenced, where countries fiercely competed. In the International Golden Bridge Folk Dance Competition, where dance groups from different countries competed intensely, Bulgaria was chosen as the first-place winner, Chile as the second, and South Africa as the third. The celebration displays of the winning groups added an extra touch of vibrancy to the final night.
